SPC flooring is engineered luxury vinyl (LVF) with a technologically advanced SPC (stone plastic composite) core that won’t peel or ripple no matter how long it’s submerged in liquid. Form + Function
Waterproof floors are the perfect balance of high style and extreme function. It has all of the design of LVF with images created from 3D photography and digital printing, available in a wide variety of colors and designs. It is embossed, which gives the floor depth, dimension, and textured appearances such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed.
It can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards (LVP) or square, groutable tile-sized pieces (LVT). Some also use vinyl plank for a stone look because of the large format and fewer seams. Others prefer the extra seams, feeling that they increase the realism and take it even further using grout.
What about function?
It is durable with a top, thick, clear melamine wear sheet that protects the floor from scratches, scuffs and keeps spills at the top, waiting to be wiped off. The vinyl itself is durable, but true LVF should have a thickness of at least 9-mm or higher; the higher the number, the more durable. The wear layer should measure at least 20-mils. It is so sturdy that it can be installed over the most irregular subfloors, and imperfections won’t telegraph to the surface.
SPC floors are a good choice for heavily trafficked rooms in residences, including kitchens, baths, laundry rooms, and even works well in commercial applications.
